Communities United for Police Reform, its coalition partners, the Open Society Foundations, and Fission worked together to reach new audiences around Stop & Frisk to impact the 2014 Mayoral Race.
 
Fission provided online analysis, identified potential influencers for outreach, and developed strategic recommendations and messaging for YouTube, blog and Twitter outreach for this campaign.The largest community-led coalition for police reform united with a passionate foundation to help humanize Stop and Frisk’s negative impact on NYC minority communities with mini-documentaries.
 
Results
 
The premiere video featuring an engaging teen named Kasiem has reached over 100,000 views. It has been tweeted by NYC influencers and encouraged Democratic primary winner Bill de Blasio to focus a TV ad on his bi-racial son’s experience with Stop and Frisk. Upworthy featured this video and another in the series, helping to boost views and encourage ongoing sharing.
